The Miami Grand Prix runs on a circuit built around Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens — which is to say, nowhere near where anyone attending it is staying. The race is in Miami Gardens; the weekend is in South Beach, Brickell and Bal Harbour, twenty miles south, on roads that were congested before Formula 1 arrived.

The circuit and the party are in different cities
Almost every Miami Grand Prix guest sleeps somewhere between South Beach and Brickell and races somewhere in Miami Gardens. That is a fifteen to twenty mile run each way on I-95 or the Turnpike, in a metro that does not need a Grand Prix to produce traffic.
The weekend is therefore two logistical problems, not one. The circuit run has to be timed around session starts and the stadium's traffic plan. The evenings — which are most of why people come — are a dense, late-running sequence of dinners and events inside Miami Beach and Brickell, where the constraint is parking and valet queues rather than distance.
Arrivals: four airports, one week
Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood both feed the weekend, and private aviation spreads across Opa-locka and Miami Executive with ramp space at a premium. Guests routinely arrive through a different airport than they planned, sometimes on a different day.
Every arrival is flight-tracked and re-planned rather than re-booked when that happens. On Grand Prix week the difference matters more than usual: a missed pickup at MIA on the Thursday is not a twenty-minute problem, it is an afternoon.
Hourly is the shape that survives a Miami evening
A Miami race week evening does not run to a plan. Dinner moves, a second venue appears, someone wants to be back at the hotel and someone else does not. Point-to-point booking punishes every one of those; a chauffeur held for the night absorbs them.
It also solves the valet problem, which is the real friction in Miami Beach — a held vehicle is waiting, not circling, and the party leaves when it decides to rather than when a car can be found.
